This story is very similar to “The Return of Verge Likens” by Davis “Night of the Hunter” Grubb. That story was adapted into an episode of the Alfred Hitchcock Hour starring a young Peter Fonda. I don’t know if Grubb wrote this episode for Creeps by Night, or if he ripped off the radio story, or if it’s just a coincidence.

I think you all missed another key moment in that great shaving scene … the moment ‘the butler’ reveals ever so subtlety that he’s George Miller … “you’ll be a new man, Ace” … hit me like it must have hit Ace. The butler had never called him “Ace” up to that moment!
