Joshua has brought another episode of Frontier Gentleman hoping that it receives a warmer reception than his first try! This episode, entitled “Powder River Kid,” features the titular British journalist on a carriage ride across Montana in the company of a chatty bullwhacker and his doddering old father. But soon the party finds a trio of desperate strangers, one of whom has been shot. It leads the travelers to a series of several difficult ethical questions. What is the kind thing to do for these strangers? What choice favors justice? Which president was Popeye’s father? Listen for yourself and find out! Then vote and let us know what you think!
Woof. Another swing and a miss. The question isn’t “when do you get to the castle?”, but rather “where is the castle?”. The murderous Powder City Kid doesn’t show remorse, doesn’t deserve redemption, and isn’t regretful about his past. There was also zero suspense about if the Frontier Gentleman was going to keep the money. This series is such a drag.
I liked this episode—it’s even more interesting than the last Frontier Gentlemen episode. It hooked me in just enough so that I wanted to see just how the situation would play itself out— which wasn’t what I expected. It was pretty good, and the concept of Frontier Gentleman is a unique one for a western radio show of that era.
Found a new radio show called Molle Mystery Theatre from the ’40s—heard a really good crime episode from it called “Red Wine” courtesy of the podcast Weird Darkness—it was really good.
