Happy Halloween! We found this treat in our Listener Library. Our mysterious listener Ben recommended “Ringing the Changes” from Nightfall. Thanks, Ben! This episode adapts a story by Robert Aikman about a newlywed couple whose plans take them to the small seaside town of Holyhaven on Halloween. But for some reason the town’s bells continue to ring and the locals seem nervous to see the visitors. Will this May-December relationship survive their honeymoon? What happens when the bells stop? Will we be critical of the music again? Listen for yourself and find out! Then vote and let us know what you think!

Love the show gentlemen. Even my wife has got into it especially through the banter following the shows.

but I have to say, it kills this Canuck every time you call CBC the Canadian Broadcasting Company instead of Corporation.

Thank you Trev- I was going to make the same comment about the CBC. It’s not the first time it’s been incorrectly described like that. Kudos to Eric for his awareness of Canadian Content broadcasting requirements.

The BBC version of Ringing The Changes is far better IMHO

Fintan

I humbly disagree, and I know the BBC version well: I like the way this version makes the key relationship slightly more believable. Might not be as faithful to the source, but I prefer this adaptation (apart from the Nughtfall music of course).

Ringing the Changes, aka Honeymoon in Innsmouth

Smuggins

The characters do act like real people. They are unbelievable vague about stuff going on, like what the lady stepped in, as to create suspense for the listener, but it seems really contrived.
