Welcome to our fourth installment of our Suspense-o-rama, a whole bunch of episodes from the classic series that were recommended by our listeners! This time we are listening to “Murder in G-Flat,” featuring a performance by Jack Benny. Benny plays a keen-eared piano tuner who finds himself inadvertently in possession of $25,000. But this money comes with Is the murder and mystery attached! Where did the windfall come from? Will trying to keep it cost this piano-tuner his life? Does this police department host a lot of parties? Listen for yourself and find out! Then vote and let us know what you think!
Eric claims to be a Jack Benny fan, but so far Benny is 0/2 with him; if a person doesn’t go for ‘Murder in G-Flat’ it’s unlikely they’ll go for any of Benny’s other 3 Suspense stories.
All I can say is: Well!
Haha! I see what you did there. Yeah…I’m all over the map.
Never forget that episode of the Jack Benny show that began with a phone ringing. No voices. No explanation. A phone ringing.
Then…
…
ROCHESTER: We may not be funny but we suuuuuure got suspense!
I think it would work better if I hadn’t heard Jack mocking shows like this in his own radio program. Who could forget “I stand condemned” with an excellent Boris Karloff?
Didn’t like this episode. Felt like Jack Benny kind of ruined it. It was clear he wasn’t taking it seriously and even then, his character was just kind of dumb. He wants to keep the money, which was just idiotic, so that the story would progress, but any normal person would have agreed with the wife. Jack is totally a thief! Also, the Uncle goes from Oaf to cold-blooded killer awfully quick!
I love this episode. An absolute favorite. I’m a Jack Benny fan but I would love this even with someone else playing the lead. I feel it was a script tailored for Jack and I think he delivered on what was expected of him. I just find this a very fun adventure. Eric you’re my favorite but I disagree with you on this one.
