Inspired by the true story of serial killer H.H. Holmes, Lights Out presents the Society with a production entitled “Murder Castle!” A series of women are lured into a home filled with deadly traps to become the victims of a sadistic madman. Can you endure the grisly terror without flipping the tape over? How can fresh cement be so disturbing? Why would you ever go into a building called the Murder Castle? Listen for yourself and find out! Then vote and let us know what you think:
This was another fantastic story. I had only learned about Holmes’ story a couple of months ago. Imagine such a house of horrors just outside of the Chicago World’s Fair – all those tourists looking for a place to stay. The true story is horrific. At least this guy got his just desserts in a timely manner.
And he was married three times! (He was technically a bigamist…) And he had a daughter! It’s always weird to me when monstrous minds plug into normal (normalish) lives like that. Yes. He’s terrifying.
Great commentary on this one, you guys summed it up perfectly!
I highly suggest reading Devil in the White City a book that juxtaposes the creation of the beautiful world’s fair (decked out in white buildings and showcasing electric lights for the first time) against the building of the crazy hotel/pharmacy and the exploits of HH Homes. A very entertaining book with all kinds of trivia about the fair itself like how Pabst won his blue ribbon.
