Our thanks to Scott for this week’s visit to the Listener Library! Scott recommended an episode of Suspense entitled, “Fugue in C Minor!” Vincent Price and Ida Lupino star in this story written by Lucille Fletcher about a woman whose widowed suitor lives in a home built around an enormous pipe organ. She soon discovers that his children believe their mother haunts the house after their father murdered her. Are the children delusional? Is the house haunted by a vengeful spirit? Would a pipe organ be the worst household appliance to malfunction? Listen for yourself and find out! Then vote and let us know what you think!

Does “Fugue in C Minor” stand the test of time?

I loves this! Everything is so on point. God, Lucille Fletcher is such an incredible writer. Also, there is something about this that reminds me of the film The Innocents. So good and creepy.

I was TOTALLY thinking of Henry James as I was listening, yes, Fletcher totally nailed that vibe!

Interesting that both Lucille Fletcher plays (this and Remodeled Brownstone) have characters with the last name Peabody.

Also, were the makers of Roma Wines under the impression that people couldn’t spell their product’s name? It seems very important to them to clarify that it’s spelled R-O-M-A.
